Our trustee board

The Board of Trustees at the Christchurch Women’s Centre provides governance, guidance, and strategic direction to ensure the organisation remains sustainable, ethical, and aligned with its values.

Working behind the scenes, the Board supports the long-term vision of the Centre, overseeing policies, financial stewardship, and organisational accountability. They work collaboratively with staff to strengthen the Centre’s impact, champion its mission, and respond to the evolving needs of the community.

Through their leadership and commitment, the Board helps create a strong foundation that enables the Centre to continue offering safe, inclusive, and empowering services.

Andrew Collins

Deputy Chair

I bring to the Board expertise in planning, stakeholder engagement, and governance, to help strengthen the Centre's impact and long-term sustainability.

My background is in international relations, research, and organisational development, with experience supporting policy initiatives and capacity-building across governmental, intergovernmental, and non-profit sectors. I hold a PhD from King's College London, where my research focused on local ownership in peacebuilding.

An Ōtautahi Christchurch local of 20 years, I recognise the critical role that mental health and support services play in empowering individuals and communities. I'm committed to ensuring that women in Canterbury have access to high-quality resources that make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Luiza Veras

Treasurer

I started my accounting career in Brazil before relocating to Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2005. With qualifications from both countries, I am an ACA member of CAANZ. After ten years in public practice, I moved into management accounting in 2018, providing strategic financial insights for business growth.

In 2024, I joined the Christchurch Women's Centre Board of Trustees to help support and empower women. I also serve on the boards of A-Town Boxing Gym and the Champion for Life program, initiatives that promote youth well-being in Christchurch.

Since 2019, I've been active with the CAANZ local committee and became Chair of the Canterbury Committee in 2023. Contributing to my profession and community remains a top priority for me.

Alexandra Dalzell

Board Member

I have been working in the financial services sector as a Financial Advisor, for close to 30 years. I am passionate about financial education and empowerment of women, to assist them in making decisions which support their lives and wellbeing.

When an opportunity to join the Board of the Women's Centre became available, I was very happy to join. I recognise that not all women are afforded equal resources or opportunities and believe that organisations which provide support are essential.

I am also a board member of the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust and a volunteer with Pathways.
